This tour could not have been more of a success! When students who received tours were asked if the tour was helpful and if they would want it to become a permanent part of orientation, they answered with a resounding yes. Chelsea agreed that the tours were received well by both parents and students. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, only a desire to have more tour guides was expressed in the negative. This tour will be made a permanent part of orientation because of how helpful it was to first year students who were nervous and scared about being able to locate their classes.
The connections made with such a variety of students including new freshman, transfers, international, and non-traditional students. Another gaining for me from this project was personal skills such as marketing, communication, and leadership. I believe this program will be an incredibly important aspect of Orientation for years to come. Students and parents were lining up constantly, so much that we had to call in more volunteers. I am pleased with the outcome of this project, especially the Orientation Schedule Tour.
